I'm a former newspaper reporter-turned corporate and agency writer/communications person who oftentimes feels that I left the news business sooner than I should have, a thought that calls into question my sanity given how the newspaper industry has been imploding for the past decade.
Touching on that theme, I'm currently working on my first book,Hell AND High Water:The Battle to Save the Daily New Orleans Times-Picayune and the Future of the Newhouse Newspaper Empire, about last summer's efforts to save the 175-year-old, four-time Pulitzer Prize-winning publication and the changes that have gone on there at other Newhouse newspapers since.
In addition to newspaper and magazine reporting and writing, I've run communications for a variety of companies and organizations, including Playboy Enterprises. (Yes, I've been to the Playboy Mansion, but only during daylight hours.)
